Our Mission Statement
We offer support and encouragement in living, social and practical skills to enable people with learning and physical disabilities to enjoy independent lifestyles.
Who We Are
Enable (Sheffield) is a charity based training organisation for people with disabilities. Our aim is to offer a quality care and training opportunities to meet their individual needs.
Our training areas deliver themed subjects and topics relevant to suit our learner’s abilities and skills. First opening for business in 1994, with the intention to make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Sheffield. From the offset we have always involved our learners in the decision making process, and this is, we believe, the key to our success. From humble beginnings, renting a room in a local school, Enable (Sheffield) has grown to become a well established and renown training provider for disabled adults in Sheffield.
The centre has been designed specifically to meet the demands of disabled people, offering a bright, spacious learning place for all.
Our training areas are well equipped and are resourced to address the needs of our learners. We open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. Learners can relax and take full advantage of our garden area in their breaks as well as the use of our games room that includes; pool tables, table football, ping-pong and an air hockey table.
Becoming a New Learner
When someone would like to join us, they are invited to have a look around to check if it is right for them. They are first shown around the centre and introduced to everyone. Many will already know a few of our learners from other places and this often makes them instantly feel more comfortable. We then take them through an induction process to let them know all about us and what they could be doing when they are here. As part of this we also tell them about the social activities we offer. We do not rush this process, as it is important that they feel happy and at ease with starting here. When all has been completed and everyone is agreed that this is the place for them, the learner is given a copy of the induction pack so they can take it home for a good read before they start with us.
